Jazz

Jazz is a technique based style with a strong ballet background. There are many types of styles of jazz ranging from: Broadway Jazz, Modern Jazz, Commercial Jazz and many more. This class consists of structure and discipline along with fun and sass.

Hiphop

Hip-hop is an upbeat urban style of dance that is forever evolving. This high energy class consists of rap, hip-hop and pop sounds, focusing on musicality and rhythm. 

Ballet

Ballet is a highly technical form of dance training with its own vocabulary based on French terminology. It has influenced and defined the foundation of techniques used in many other genres. Ballet has evolved over the years but will always hold the most important dance fundamentals. It requires hard work, dedication and discipline.

Contemporary

Contemporary is an extremely artistic style of dance. It is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and usually contains an emotional journey, or story.  There is a lot of creative freedom when it comes to contemporary dance.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is a theatrical dance style that includes dance technique and acting to songs from broadways and musicals. These dance numbers usually consist of a story being told or a character being formed.

Modern

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive motions that tell a story. Students will learn lyrical technique along with how to express emotion through movement.

Fitness/Cardio

Blast your cardio fitness to the next level! This class provides the variety your body needs to see results by combining fun cardio routines with specific muscle conditioning that will be tailored to the class's needs from week to week. This is a great time to enjoy the music and feeling the burn!

Stretch/Conditioning

Focusing on core strength development through low-impact exercise, designed to tone up the body. Incorporates the use of the light weights, stretching, and across-the-floor work.  Classes are easy to follow and held in a comfortable, non-competitive environment.

Tap

Tap dance is a type of dance characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. The sound is made by shoes that have a metal "tap" on the heel and toe.

Adult Dance

We’ll start from the basics, and support you as you start to learn the basic movements, develop a sense of rhythm, understand dance terminology and conventions, and learn the key principles of your chosen dance style.
It’s a way for adults to learn dance that won’t make you feel self-conscious about your age, size, or lack of experience. Everyone else in the class will be in the same position as you, learning that dance style for the first time.

Bollywood

Bollywood dancing is a form of dance that involves a lot of body movement, almost every part of your body is used from head to toe in every step. Bollywood dancing is different from other forms of dance because it can be used on both fast and slow paced songs also bollywood music often goes from being very fast paced to very slow paced in less than a second which makes it hard adapt to the change of the tempo.

Dance Cirque

Acrobatics can start from forward rolls on the floor to learning how to backflip in a safe way. These relatively simple moves can then be built up into more dramatic moves that produce the acrobatic activities of spinning, falling backwards, or diving forwards. Dance Cirque is new to Urban Edge in 2021. Our staff are trained by Penrith Sydneys PAWS Dance Studio. Dance Cirque involves balance beams, silks and other aerial equipment.

Petite Dancers (2-4 Yrs)

The class is the perfect introduction to music and movement for the very young child not ready to separate but ready to explore in a nurturing learning environment. The basic elements of dance are introduced in a positive and loving way using props such as scarves, stuffed animals and musical instruments.
